In this last week of the book I was amazed. Through out the book I have found that they have been steping it up each chapter which has made me want to keep reading it even more. In Enders game they have left it on a type of ledge not only making you wonder what is going to happen next but rather so that you may ask yourself, "what is the next book going to be like?" Since the start of the book the protagonist but also sometimes the antagonist Ender has been develpoing into an adult but also a better and more respected person to the rest of the people in the book. I have found that one of the main people as such is Graff. At the start of the book Graff and Ender didnt really like each other and didnt have any respect for eachtoher but as the book went on I found that they started respecting eachother to the point where at the end of the book Graff was actually telling Ender what he thought about the buggers and what he could maybe so next. I think that all of these components are key in a book and help the reader understand the character more and give more of a setting and a theme. As the book went on I found that it good less fictional but it still was in that catagory a lot which I personally dont like but it all depends on the type of book of course. As I said I think that they have left the book on a really good ending due to the fact that they could easily make another one which would be just as exciting. If they did make a next book I think that the queen that Ender didnt destroy would play a big part because it is known as the heart of the buggers and could repersent a new biggining for them and could possibly bring them back to try and keep destroying. Ender has also only destroyed what he was told to be the buggers in his 'training' session so there could be a whole city of them on a different that they currently dont know about and that could also bring a battle for Ender. The quote(s) that I have chosen is: "No u dont. I dont want to beat Peter." "Then what do you want?" " I want him to love me," Ender said. I think that this is important to remember because it says a lot about Peter and Enders relationship and how they make it come out and make others think like they hate each other but inside they actually love each other and are really good siblings. I think that if they do decide to make another book Peter and Ender are going to be a key aspect of each other lives and will help each other out a lot. Overall I am really happy on how this book ended and hopefully they will decide to make another book and something exciting will unfold!
1. I didn't LOVE the ending, but, given there's a second book it somewhat makes up for it. 2. It really makes us wonder what's going to happen to the Bugger Queen, if she's going to be good or evil, and whether Ender has in fact found a place for her to survive. 3. "He looked for a long time." This was the last sentence in the book and I found it interesting how it isn't really a cliffhanger but it is at the same time? It's just a little bit too average of a sentence in my opinion to be the last thing the book says.
This was the last week of the reading groups and i have to say I enjoyed it, my favorite part of this last section was how ender realized his mistake and did his best to fix what he had done. I wonder if there is a next book in the series and if so what is it about? "You never played a game since I became your enemy". I picked this quote because it shows how ender is human to he can also be tricked and he has flaws just like us making him more relatable as a character. - Matt
This last week really surprised me. While the book was drawing to a close I was a little bit confused. I wondered how the book will fit in Ender beating to buggers if here are only twenty or so pages left. But the surprise really got me. I was not expecting that to happen at all, I thought it was really a game. Throughout the whole book it has been telling us that Ender is being controlled, but he always knew it. However, this time he did not and that is what got me. This has been beautifully written and the charter development of Ender has been magnificent. At the beginning of the book he was a small child who was afraid of people bigger and stronger than he was. Ender always relied on someone else to save him from his troubles. But when he goes to battle school we see him slowly evolve and take care of himself. We see this when Ender takes on Bonzo. He seems like he is no longer afraid to take on someone much bigger than him and by the end of the fight he now knows that no one will come to save him. A quote that I chose was when Ender said "I've lived too long with pain. I won't know who I am without it." This shows us just how much of an effect the training and fighting has had on Ender. It shows us just how much pain and suffering he had to go through to get to where he is now. I think the ending of this book was perfect. If I had to choose I would leave it at that and let us wonder if he ever found a place for the egg. The author did make another one, but I think the ending of this one is perfect how it is.
